Starbridge is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to help evolve a product that helps companies navigate complex government data, contracts, grants and market signals, turning them into actionable insights using AI. The role focuses on backend data ingestion, processing, search infrastructure, AI-driven workflows at scale, ownership from solution shaping to production delivery, and collaboration with a small senior team.
5+ years of backend engineering experience, preferably in the JVM ecosystem with Kotlin. Experience designing and owning backend systems in production from initial design through deployment and ongoing improvement. Strong system design knowledge including scalability, failure handling, and trade-offs. Experience building asynchronous or distributed systems such as messaging, queues, or event-driven systems. Experience working in product companies, preferably B2B SaaS, with direct impact on shipped features. Ability to make and justify technical decisions. Fluency in written and spoken English. Nice to have: large-scale data processing, scraping, data pipelines, LLM or AI-related systems, and GCP or similar cloud environments.
